BLACKPINK’s MV For ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ Surpasses 200 Million Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop

[OSEN=김은애 기자] BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ became the fastest video to surpass 200 million views in K-Pop history, proving the group’s global popularity.

The MV for BLACKPINK’s title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ from their new EP album released on April 5 at 0 AM, surpassed 200 million views yesterday(16th) at 6:50 PM. The record was achieved in 11 days, 18 hours and 50 minutes since its release. It is the fourth fastest record among all artists in the world.

After setting a world record by surpassing 100 million views in 62 hours since its release, the MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ continued its march towards 200 million views. The figures are rising more rapidly than’DDU-DU DDU-DU’, which is BLACKPINK’s biggest hit song, so the fans have high expectations on what the video will achieve in the near future.

With ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’(700M), ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’·’BOOMBAYAH’(500M), ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’·’WHISTLE’(300M), JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’·‘KILL THIS LOVE’(200M), and ‘STAY’(100M), all 8 videos released by BLACKPINK since debut have reached or surpassed 100 million views. In addition, BLACKPINK is the only girl group to hold 5 choreography videos with over 100 million views.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK entered Billboard charts with the highest rank in K-Pop girl group history.

The title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ entered the ‘Hot 100’, Billboard’s main singles chart, as no. 41, while the EP album ‘Kill This Love’ entered the ‘Billboard 200’, the main album chart, as no. 24.

Furthermore, the album was also ranked at no. 1 on the World Albums chart following ‘SQUARE UP’, which was released last year.

On the ‘World Digital Song Sales’ chart, a total of five songs by the group were placed within the top 10 including ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ ranked at no. 1, ‘Don’t Know What To Do’ at no. 4, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ at no. 7, ‘Kick It’ at no. 7, and ‘Hope Not’ ranked at no. 9.

BLACKPINK added more meaning to their record by topping the World Digital Song Sales chart 5 consecutive times with songs ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, and ‘KILL THIS LOVE’.

On April 12(local time), BLACKPINK left a strong impression on the local music fans of the US by performing at ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, for the first time as a Korean girl group.

While establishing themselves as a global girl group, BLACKPINK will begin their North America tour on the April 17, starting in Los Angeles. On the 18th, they will appear on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’, the famous American talk show. The group will then decorate the stage of ‘Coachella’ once again on the 19th, to meet the local music fans.
