BLACKPINK at No. 4 on Spotify Global, The Biggest Music Platform of the World

[OSEN=김보라 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK’s ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was successfully charted as no. 4 on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

The title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ from BLACKPINK’s new EP album is at no. 4 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart as of April 7, proving the group’s popularity. In addition, the song is at no. 35 on the US Top 50 chart, beginning to heat up their popularity within the States. 

The number of streams on Spotify have surpassed 5.31 million in 24 hours after the song was released, continuing the group’s global popularity.

With 187 million users, Spotify is the world’s biggest music streaming platform with the greatest number of users. Spotify is known as an influential streaming platform which directly influences well-known charts including the Billboard and UK Charts.

BLACKPINK stood proudly among global musicians including BILLIE EILISH, JONAS BROTHERS, and ARIANA GRANDA at the top ranks of Spotify, proving their influence as the K-Pop queens.

The title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ from BLACKPINK’s new EP album released on April 5 at 0 AM is not only loved in Korea and Asian regions, but also loved worldwide.

The group has also set a milestone by topping iTunes Song charts in 37 different regions of the world including the US, the country with the biggest music market. BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop girl group to top the US iTunes Song chart and became a girl group who topped the according chart in 15 years, which adds more meaning to their record. Furthermore, ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was ranked at no. 1 on Japan’s iTunes Comprehensive Album chart, K-Pop album chart, Pop album chart, and Line Music Song TOP 100. 

BLACKPINK, ‘the global girl group’, will perform at ‘Coachella Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, for the first time as K-Pop idols on April 12 and 19 to meet the local fans. On the 17th, they will begin their North America tour which is consisted of 8 concerts in 6 cities, starting in Los Angeles.
