[일간스포츠=황지영 기자]  The famous American entertainment magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, revealed their interview with BLACKPINK JENNIE.

On December 7 (local time), the Hollywood Reporter wrote, “JENNIE recently achieved rewarding results on her own” and spotlighted her records by adding, “Her first solo single ‘SOLO’ not only topped Billboard’s Digital Song Sales Chart but also surpassed 100 million views in 23 days”. They also praised her by writing, “Due to their unprecedented success in the US, BLACKPINK are regarded as the K-Pop behemoth that led the scene this year” and that “JENNIE is probably used to rewriting and setting milestones by now”.

The Hollywood Reporter started publication in 1930, and deals with issues regarding the movie, broadcast, and entertainment business. It is known as one of the two biggest entertainment magazines in the US. It was JENNIE’s first appearance on the magazine ever since she made debut.

BLACKPINK set milestones on their career through various global charts. BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ entered the ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 40, while the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ entered the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ as no. 55, setting the best record in K-Pop girl group history. JENNIE stated, “It’s such an honor to be receiving so much love and we never want to take this moment for granted. We feel very blessed and we hope to see you guys soon” and raised the readers’ curiosities by adding, “Our US debut will also be a great opportunity. I won’t be the one spoiling anything, but please look forward to it”.

BLACKPINK partnered with Interscope Records, which is the representative label of Universal Music Group to announce their debut in the US market, which is raising the fans’ expectations. JENNIE shared the behind story on the creation of ‘SOLO’ and the story of her growth as a musical artist. She showed off her fluent English skills from start to finish as she has studied in New Zealand when she was young.

On the question that asked her thoughts on being the first member of BLACKPINK to release a solo project, JENNIE answered, “Well, I think it would be a lie if I say there wasn’t any pressure. But I try to enjoy all the process”. She added, “I’ve had a strong connection with ‘SOLO’ from the beginning. So, I’ve input a lot of my ideas into the concept, the style and everything”, revealing her affections towards the song. In the end, she said goodbyes by stating, “I would like to create outcomes I can be proud of” and “I hope our music will be passed on to a lot of people around the world”.

Since JENNIE released her first debut single ‘SOLO’, she swept daily and weekly charts, while also dominating major real-time music charts for 15 consecutive days. The song also topped iTunes Charts in 40 different countries, as well as topping the iTunes ‘World Wide Song’ chart for the first time as a Korean female solo artist.

JENNIE will present her fantastic performance through MBC ‘Show Music Core’ on the 8th.
