BLACKPINK JENNIE, No. 1 March for 4 Consecutive Days… MV Surpasses 35 Million Views
[일간스포츠=황지영 기자] BLACKPINK JENNIE is continuing her no. 1 march for 4 consecutive days.
JENNIE’s digital single ‘SOLO’ topped music charts including Naver Music, Olleh Music, Genie, Soribada, Bugs, Mnet, Monkey 3, and Melon, Korea’s largest music platform, achieving a chart ‘all-kill’ for 4 consecutive days since the song was released.
The MV surpassed 10 million views in 15 hours, rewriting the fastest record in K-Pop solo artists’ history. The MV has accumulated 35 million views as of 9 AM. She is still maintaining her top spot in the ‘Most Watched YouTube Video in the Past 24 Hours’ among all artists in the world.
JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ gathered attention from all around the world by topping iTunes Charts in 40 different countries. She also topped the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart among Pop starts including Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for the first time as a Korean female solo artist, revealing her global power. The song also topped iTunes Pop, K-Pop Chart, and Line Music’s real-time chart in Japan.
US Billboard wrote, “JENNIE expressed an independent woman through her single ‘SOLO’, as the furst runner of BLACKPINK’s solo project”. They reviewed, “The song that starts with a fresh melody presents JENNIE’s mellow yet explosive vocals and rap with swag”. UK Metro wrote, “JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ entered the US iTunes Chart Top 10 for the first time as a Korean female solo artist”.
The full-version choreography of ‘SOLO’ will be revealed on the 16th. She is planning to present a fierce performance for ‘SOLO’, what she has not been able to present through her MV which is making the fans excited.
‘SOLO’ is a song in a Hip-Hop genre incorporating elements of Pop. The song expresses a confident solo through direct and sincere lyrics along with the beautiful chords and simple melody line on the intro. The song was written and composed by producer TEDDY who worked on all songs released by BLACKPINK, while producer 24 also participated in the composing of the song to add more completion.
