BLACKPINK JENNIE’s Milestones Set as a ‘SOLO’ Artist in 3 Days (COMPREHENSIVE) [Oh!SSEN ISSUE]
[OSEN=김은애 기자] BLACKPINK JENNIE prove her nickname as the ‘new record generator’, even as a ‘SOLO’ artist. She is receiving attention from not only Korea, but also overseas markets as soon as she released her new song.
On November 14, JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ was placed at no. 1 on music charts including Melon, Naver Music, Mnet, Genie Music, Olleh Music, Monkey 3, and Soribada. She is maintaining her no. 1 spot and her all-kill status ever since she released her song on the 12th at 6 PM.
JENNIE’s record is even more surprising since she is sturdily maintaining her no. 1 spot despite the comeback rush by popular artists on November.
JENNIE’s influence and popularity was not limited to the K-Pop scene. As the world has paid attention to BLACKPINK ever since debut, the global fans also paid keen attention to ‘SOLO’.
Thanks to the global fans’ support, JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ topped iTunes Charts in 40 different countries including Argentina, Armenia, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, and Vietnam.
Moreover, JENNIE also set a new milestone by topping the iTunes Worldwide Song Top 200 Chart for the first time as a Korean female solo artist. She achieved the record among global Pop stars such as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, establishing herself as a global diva through her debut single, ‘SOLO’.
Furthermore, the view count for the MV for ‘SOLO’ also rose rapidly. She became the artist with the highest number of YouTube views in 24 hours and surpassed a total of 23 million views in 38 hours since its release.
Well-known foreign media channels also highlighted JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’. UK Metro wrote, “JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ entered the US iTunes Chart Top 10 for the first time as a Korean female solo artist”.
Billboard wrote, “BLACKPINK became the highest ranked group ever in the ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ charts this year” and introduced, “JENNIE’s new single ‘SOLO’ expressed an independent woman, as the first runner of BLACKPINK’s solo project”.
They also left a positive review by writing, “The song ‘SOLO’ that starts with a fresh melody presents JENNIE’s mellow yet explosive vocals and rap with overflowing swag”. US communications network UPI also praised JENNIE by writing, “The viewers can take a glimpse of JENNIE’s various outfits and performances through the MV for ‘SOLO’”.
Regarding the remarkable achievements, JENNIE wrote, “I thank everyone. This is too much. I thank all the BLINKs out there. Today is a special day” on her social media, expressing her gratitude towards the fans. Representative YANG HYUN SUK also wrote, “Thanks blinks No 1 on Worldwide iTunes Song Chart
