UK Metro, “JENNIE Enters iTunes Top 10 for the First Time as a Korean Female Solo Artist”
[헤럴드POP=고명진 기자] 제니 While ‘SOLO’ became the first song released by a Korean female solo artist to enter the top 10 in US iTunes, the MV also became the most watched video on YouTube in 24 hours.
‘SOLO’ was placed at no. 1 on 8 different real-time charts including Olleh Music, Genie, Soribada, Bugs, Mnet, Naver Music, Monkey 3, and Melon, which is Korea’s largest music platform, as of today(14th) at 9 AM. The song is maintaining its top spot for 3 consecutive days in all Korean real-time music charts, since its release on the 12th.
The MV for ‘SOLO’ also surpassed 23 million views in 38 hours due to the global fans’ interest and is still rising. JENNIE became the artist with the highest YouTube views in 24 hours among all artists in the world.
The choreography teaser clip for ‘SOLO’ was revealed today at 9 AM. As the choreography that appeared in the end of the MV grabbed the viewers’ attention, the release of the teaser clip is receiving spotlight from the public.
Well-known foreign press channels are also paying keen attention on JENNIE’s new single. UK Metro wrote, “JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ entered the US iTunes Chart Top 10 for the first time as a Korean female solo artist”.
US Billboard explained, “JENNIE presented various glittery choreographies through the MV for ‘SOLO’ while looking perfect in designer clothes. Her lovely and trendy style grabs the viewers’ attention”.
JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ was placed at no. 1 on iTunes Charts in 40 different countries including Argentina, Armenia, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, and Vietnam.
JENNIE also topped the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart Top 200 for the first time as a Korean female solo artist. The result is more meaningful since she achieved the result among global Pop stars including Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, establishing herself as a global diva.
‘SOLO’ is a song in a Hip-Hop genre, incorporating elements of Pop music. JENNIE expressed a confident solo who is not bound to sadness after a breakup with direct and sincere lyrics such as, ‘No romance no meaning / I’m sorry but I’m not sorry / From today on I’m a shining solo’.
The song was written and composed by producer TEDDY who worked on all songs released by BLACKPINK ever since debut, while producer 24 also participated in the composing of the track.
