iKON to Hold an Arena Tour in Japan Following their Dome Tour
[엑스포츠뉴스=김미지 기자] iKON announced that they will be holding an additional large-scale tour in Japan.
In the run up to the last concert of its “iKON JAPAN DOME TOUR 2017” at the Saitama MetLife Dome on June 17, iKON announced that it will be going on an arena tour again and holding 22 concerts in eight Japanese cities.
For their arena tour, iKON is to hold concerts at the Kobe World Memorial Hall on September 9-10, the Nagano Big Hat on September 16, the Marine Messe Fukuoka on October 1, the Yokohama Arena on October 4, the Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center on October 7-8, the Shizuoka Stadium ECOPA on October 14, the Nippon Gaishi Hall on October 17, the Chiba Makuhari Messe on October 28-29, and again at the Kobe World Memorial Hall on November 11-12. The group will hold a total of 22 concerts in eight Japanese cities, and 233,000 fans are expected to attend their concerts.
This is the longest and biggest tour since iKON debuted in Japan last year.
iKON debuted in Japan in January 2016 with their “WELCOME BACK” album. The album took the No.1 spot on Oricon’s Daily CD Albums Chart, and grabbed the attention of music critics upon debut.
Then, iKON released a singled titled “DUMB & DUMBER” in September 2016. The song topped three major charts: Oricon’s Weekly CD Singles chart, Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 and Billboard Japan’s Top Single Sales chart.
iKON went on their first arena tour “iKONCERT 2016 SHOWTIME TOUR IN JAPAN” in the same year as their debut year, which was 2016. They drew a total of 146,000 people to their 14 concerts held in five cities, namely Fukuoka, Tokyo, Kobe, Chiba, and Osaka.
In the same year, iKON went on their “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016” tour and held 16 concerts in six cities, drawing a total of 176,000 fans. Combined, 322,000 people attended iKON‘s concerts in 2016, which is the biggest number for a rookie.
iKON‘s concerts have become an issue for being so popular, and the group even held a concert at the Osaka Kyocera Dome on May 20 and will be holding one at the Saitama MetLife Dome today. This makes iKON a record-breaker for holding a dome tour in the shortest period after debut among foreign acts.
iKON is to officially release their “NEW KIDS: BEGIN” in Japan on August 16. The EP was released in Korea on May 22.
