[Interview] “2017 is the year of SECHSKIES”… SECHSKIES talks about #20th anniversary #YANG HYUN SUK #Marriage
[OSEN=김은애 기자] “We hope the year 2017 will become the year of SECHSKIES”. Group SECHSKIES has proclaimed their full-fledged new beginning with the release of 20th anniversary album.
On April 28 at 6PM, SECHSKIES will release “THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY” album on all music-streaming websites in Korea. “SAD SONG” and “BE WELL” are the double title tracks of the new album. It is SECHSKIES’ first official new album since they signed exclusive contract with YG Entertainment.
The album is already drawing keen attention, as it includes SECHSKIES’ first new songs in 17 years. SECHSKIES met the press at exhibition “Yellow Universe” in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on April 27, to promise to give more performances and appearances than ever before.
#20th anniversary of debut
EUN JIWON : “We’re releasing an album under the name of SECHSKIES for the first time in 20 years. It’s not like a best album or something. We wanted to release a new type of 20th anniversary album”.
KIM JAEDUCK : “I feel more excited than the time of our debut. I’m also nervous as it is the 20th anniversary album. I think it will be very successful. There’s something different between other singers’ 20th anniversary and our 20th anniversary. We’ve been absent from the music scene for a very long time, so the 20th anniversary album is all the more meaningful”.
KANG SUNGHOON : “The title for our performances last year was like ‘We’re back’, and for this year, it is a real new beginning. It’s a present for our fans”.
LEE JAIJIN : “An exhibition will be also held in celebration of the 20th anniversary of our debut. I participated a lot in the preparation for the exhibition, including the work on its poster. We’re preparing a variety of events including concert, so please keep your interest in us”.
# Idol YANG HYUN SUK
KIM JAEDUCK : “YANG HYUN SUK took special care of our comeback. He even directly edited our music video. People have said that we’re not lucky when it comes to music video, but that is not true any longer as Mr. YANG helped us a lot. I’m really grateful. I also really like the new songs”.
KANG SUNGHOON : “I’m grateful to celebrate SECHSKIES’ 20th anniversary with my idol YANG HYUN SUK. It is all the more meaningful and special. I feel like my dreams are coming true. I’m just really happy”.
KIM JAEDUCK : “We call YANG HYUN SUK Midas. There were some scenes in our music video which were not easy to create, but YANG succeeded in making beautiful imagery in those scenes. We did our best shooting the music video, but YANG’s standard was much higher than we expected. That was the hard part”.
KANG SUNGHOON : “I feel the most nervous when Mr. YANG visited our dance practice. Practicing dance in front of a member of the legendary idol boy group Seo Taiji & Boys made me nervous and tense more than anything. It made be nervous more than the first TV performance”.
#SAD SONG and BE WELL
EUN JIWON : “THREE WORDS” released last year was the first opportunity for us to work all together again after a long time of separation. It was like an oasis. Since then, we have kept discussing with FUTURE BOUNCE for our next new songs”.
KANG SUNGHOON : “SAD SONG” for which we worked with FUTURE BOUNCE again is almost like dance music, but its lyrics are not sad. It was my body that was sad because of dance practice for the song”.
KIM JAEDUCK : “It’s a perfect song for the spring season. It’s a sentimental song, about a man who misses a girl who left”.
JANG SUWON : “We’ll perform in TV music shows as well for the new songs. We’ll perform in MBC “Music Center” and SBS “INKIGAYO” this week. We’re practicing until late in the night these days”.
#Yellow Kies
KANG SUNGHOON : “If our reunion last year was not accepted enthusiastically, the 20th anniversary album might not exist now. I really thank our fans”.
EUN JIWON : “I hope SECHSKIES will take No.1 on all of Korea’s music charts, and the year 2017 will become the year of SECHSKIES”.
KANG SUNGHOON : “Yellow Kies” are really passionate. They are amazing. I believe they will root for us passionately this time as well. I’m always grateful”.
#Marriage
EUN JIWON : “I think SUWON will be the first among us to get married. We’ll sing for his wedding”.
KIM JAEDUCK : “If he gets married, SECHSKIES will become a group of four members”.
JANG SUWON : “The relationship with my girlfriend is okay, but there is no specific plan yet. If you exclude me from SECHSKIES, then I’ll go and appear in KBS 2TV’s “Superman is Back” show.
