[엑스포츠뉴스=김미지 기자] China’s ban on Korean entertainment wasn’t able to stop Chinese fans from taking interest in WINNER’s comeback.

Breaking a 14-month hiatus, WINNER released a new EP titled “FATE NUMBER FOR” at 4 PM on April 4. Last November, NAM TAEHYUN left the group, and WINNER became a four-member group. Now, they are ready to take the music scene by storm with “REALLY REALLY” and “FOOL”.

WINNER’s comeback was powerful enough to thaw China’s freeze on Korean entertainment as a protest against Korea’s decision to deploy THAAD. As a result, WINNER became the most searched person on Weibo, the biggest social media platform in China.

The fact that WINNER became the most searched person against Lu Han and Kris Wu, former members of EXO, f(x)’s Victoria, and Korean actor Lee Joon-gi, who has just announced that he is in a serious relationship with a fellow actress, adds more meaning.

Chinese fans translated the lyrics of the songs and posted them on their Weibo pages. They showed their support for WINNER by uploading comments such as “Both songs are great”, “No need to prove WINNER’s talent”, and “The music videos are cool”.

Meanwhile, WINNER will be launching an active promotion campaign and appear in music shows for fans in and out of Korea.
