[Exclusive] Zion.T goes overseas after sweeping Korean music scene… First concert in U.K. this month
[스포츠조선=박영웅 기자] Zion.T is now going overseas, after sweeping domestic music charts.
Zion.T will meet local fans in the U.K. by holding a solo concert on February 17 in London. The concert was organized at the request of a local promoter. Zion.T will hold the concert in collaboration with YG’s colleague producer CHOICE37.
Zion.T earned a nickname of “gangster on music charts”, presenting his flagship urban R&B music in Korea. Zion.T’s concert in the U.K. will be the test-bed for his success overseas. Zion.T has no detailed plan for overseas expansion of his career yet.
Zion.T has made a meaningful achievement with his new album “OO”. Upon the release of the album, it took No.1 on the iTunes albums chart of Taiwan and top ranks on the chart of seven countries including Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Philippines. That was the first No.1 on foreign music charts for Zion.T since his debut.
“Complex” included in “OO” topped the iTunes chart of Macao and Vietnam. “Complex” is a song featured by BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON, in which Zion.T and G-DRAGON openly talk about their own complexes, jokingly criticizing each other. Not only “The Song”, the title track of the album, but also all the other songs in it enjoyed great popularity on charts.
Zion.T did not appear on TV for his new album. The only performance Zion.T gave on TV was the live-performances of title track “The Song” as well as other songs including “Dodo” and “Wishes” with his long-time colleague performers in KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook” recorded on February 7 in the evening. That was the only TV appearance that Zion.T has scheduled for his new album.
After releasing his first album after joining YG’s “The Black Label”, Zion.T boasted his full potential by sweeping music charts. The album “OO” that embodies sunglasses which are like Zion.T’s symbol well-displays the identity of Zion.T’s music once again. The album’s title track “The Song” is a love song that sings about a typical theme of confession of love by comparing it to a secret diary.
The song’s lyrics that go “I hope that this song that I wrote while thinking about you all day long would not become famous, so it is not forgotten quickly like other famous songs” leave a fresh and unique impression. The song started from an idea of wondering about what would happen if secrets in one’ heart are opened to the world.
