[OSEN=강서정 기자] BABYMONSTER set the stage ablaze with flawless live performances in a massive venue that lived up to their title as “monster rookies,” shaking the hearts of Japanese fans.
BABYMONSTER successfully wrapped up their ‘2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR ‘HELLO MONSTERS’ IN JAPAN’ at the K-Arena Yokohama in Kanagawa, Japan. The originally scheduled shows on the 12th and 13th sold out all 40,000 seats, including limited view seats. In response to the overwhelming support, a special event-style performance was added on the 11th, drawing an additional 15,000 fans. With all three days combined, the group attracted a total of 55,000 audience members at a single venue, showcasing their explosive popularity in Japan.
The hype surrounding BABYMONSTER wasn’t just limited to their live stage, the frenzy extended beyond the concert hall. After the show, massive crowds formed around the MD (merchandise) booths, with lines so long that it became difficult to enter the venue. Fans eagerly purchased not only their full-length album [DRIP] but also a wide range of merchandise, generating an estimated 1.5 billion KRW in additional sales. Even representatives from Sony Japan reportedly expressed shock at the record-breaking figures, saying such numbers were rarely seen.
BABYMONSTER opened the show with a bang, performing the title track “DRIP” from their full-length album. A medley of hit songs reimagined with dynamic live band arrangements, combined with the members’ captivating vocals and rap, electrified the venue and sent chills through the crowd.
The show also featured seven solo stages, each highlighting the individual colors of the seven members, and the unit performance of “Woke Up In Tokyo,” which showcased their musical synergy, delivering non-stop excitement. To top it all off, they thrilled the audience with high-energy covers of 2NE1’s “Clap Your Hands” and “GO AWAY,” displaying their versatility and charm.
Having wrapped up the Kanagawa concerts on a high note, BABYMONSTER now looks ahead to the grand finale of their debut Japan tour: a show in Fukuoka, marking the last of the 12-date, 4-city run. With this, they are on track to set a new record by drawing 100,000 fans in the shortest time ever for a K-pop girl group Japan tour. Afterward, they are set to continue their tour across Asia and North America.
Meanwhile, the April 13 performance was broadcast live online for the first time during the tour, allowing BABYMONSTER to connect with even more fans. The concert will also be available for delayed streaming on local OTT platform Hulu on April 26 and 29.
