BABYMONSTER’s Secret to Becoming a “Top-Tier Act in Record Time”… The Unshakable Belief of YG
[스포츠동아=허민녕 기자] If you truly “know YG,” you’ll agree with this core identity: the unwavering belief of YG. It’s that quiet yet unrelenting conviction that has birthed a steady-selling phenomenon. That very spirit is what propelled BABYMONSTER’s evolution—from monster rookies to queens of K-pop.
BABYMONSTER’s world tour is making waves. Currently taking place in Japan, one of the two meccas of K-pop, the group is demonstrating extraordinary power, with lightning-fast sellouts at each major stop, the opening of limited-view seats, and even “emergency additional shows” being added due to overwhelming demand.
According to their agency YG Entertainment (YG), BABYMONSTER’s first world tour, “HELLO MONSTERS,” has completely sold out in two consecutive cities, Osaka and Kanagawa. Their recent show over the weekend was held at the famed “K-Arena Yokohama” in Kanagawa, and due to strong fan demand, an additional performance was added on the 11th.
Thanks to these shows at K-Arena Yokohama, BABYMONSTER met a total of over 55,000 local fans across three days.
Following the massive success in Kanagawa, BABYMONSTER is now within reach of setting a new record in K-pop history: the fastest girl group to reach 100,000 attendees during a Japan tour. With upcoming concerts in Fukuoka on the 19th and 20th, this milestone seems well within grasp.
As a powerhouse of live performances, YG is helping BABYMONSTER solidify their foundation as global performance queens. The tour is also fueling a positive cycle, as their electrifying stages continue to draw in a growing “multi-tiered fandom” hooked on their performances.
The growth of this core fanbase is also reflected in sales, despite releasing only two physical albums last year, BABYMONSTER is already approaching double million-seller status.
In May, BABYMONSTER will continue their world tour across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, before heading to North America.
