[Review is] Now it Will be a Big Surprise When AKMU Fails Topping the Charts

[일간스포츠=엄동진 기자] It came as a surprise when AKMU topped the charts with their debut single “200%” in 2014. But, this time, AKMU’s new album has topped the charts as expected. They have indeed become hit song makers against whom everyone wants to avoid competing if they can.

AKMU has made a comeback after a two-year hiatus with their “SPRING Vol.1” album, and the album is topping all the charts. The title track of the album “RE-BYE” is currently no.1 on the charts of eight major music streaming websites: Melon, Genie, Mnet, Naver Music, Olleh Music, Bugs, Soribada, and Monkey3.

Not only that, all the six tracks of the album, including “HOW PEOPLE MOVE”, are getting a huge response. Tracks in AKMU’s new album will sure be dominating the charts for some time. Twice and IOI has lost the no.1 spot on the charts due to AKMU’s new album.

AKMU announced earlier on that they will be expressing a range of emotions in a special way with their “SPRING” album and make songs that everyone can relate to.

The title track “RE-BYE” is special in that it is doesn’t have AKMU’s unique refreshing vibe like “200%” and “GIVE LOVE”. It has a jazzy feel to it and expresses the feeling of not wanting to get hurt from repeated farewells. It’s an extraordinary song but because it is light, no one was sure whether the song would become a big hit.

Yet, YG proved that they were right. Regardless of whether the song was light or heavy, easy or difficult, AKMU’s music is always special and it works. Through their new album, AKMU showed that they have grown as artists and have the ability to dominate the charts.

AKMU will be putting on a live stage at 3 PM on May 5 at the Seoul Forest and perform the tracks of their new album for the first time.
