AKMU is sweeping music charts… “Our goal is to go beyond the past styles”
[스포츠조선닷컴=정유나 기자] Brother and sister duo AKMU is sweeping music charts with cool summer songs.
“DINOSAUR”, the title track of AKMU’s new single “SUMMER EPISODE” released on July 20 at 6PM is in No.1 on the charts of major music-streaming websites in Korea including Olleh, Genie, bugs, Soribada, and NAVER, as of today (Jul. 21) at 9AM, proving AKMU’s formidable influence on music charts.
“MY DARLING”, the other title track, is staying in No.2 on the charts of music-streaming websites including Olleh, Genie, Bugs, and Soribada, following “DINOSAUR”. As such, the two new songs of AKMU are sweeping top ranks on music charts.
The two songs were all written by LEE CHAN HYUK. The cool summer songs that make listeners forget about the scorching heat of the season are highlighting different appeals of AKMU.
“DINOSAUR” is AKMU’s first-ever EDM. The idea of symbolizing the fear and loneliness of a child as a dinosaur in a dream and witty lyrics leave a deep impression. LEE SU HYUN’s pure and clear vocal for the chorus melody line completes a special EDM in which AKMU’s unique style stands out.
LEE CHAN HYUK explained the reason why AKMU tried a new genre, saying, “Our goal is to go beyond the existing style of AKMU music.” He also said that he focused on the message he wanted to convey through music regardless of the genre. He said, “The most important thing is the message I want to express”.
The music video of “DINOSAUR” like a movie adds to the captivating appeal of the song. The music video shows sensual and dream-like imagery. In the video, the AKMU brother and sister seeks the traces of a dinosaur, going back and force between the reality and dream.
The other title track “MY DARLING” is a song of acoustic genre, which tenderly and cutely expresses a feeling of wanting to be with lover, in an easy melody. It reveals AKMU’s flagship cool and cheerful appeals. The catchy hook part that repeats lyrics “Doomba Doomba Doombawe” is the most attractive point of the song.
AKMU has been recording long-run hit on music charts during the first half of this year, with full album “WINTER” released in January. Music fans are paying keen attention to weather AKMU will continue with their explosive popularity in the second half, too.
AKMU will communicate with fans in NAVER V-LIVE broadcasting on the same day at 9PM. Then, AKMU will round off the four-month-long national tour concert “DIARY” on July 22 in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province.
