The reason why AKMU’s big success on charts is all the more special
[OSEN=선미경 기자] Brother and sister duo AKMU is celebrating two happy events. With LEE SUHYUN’s birthday falling on today, AKMU’s new songs are sweeping music charts.
AKMU’s new album “SPRING Vol.1” released on May 4 at 0 o’clock swept No.1 places on the charts of major music-streaming websites: Melon, Genie, Mnet, NAVER Music, Olleh Music, Bugs, Soribada, and Monkey 3, as of 8am on the same day.
AKMU’s No.1 on music charts bears all the more special meaning, as May 4 when the album is released is LEE SUHYUN’s birthday. YG Entertainment celebrated her birthday by posting a photo of cute young SUHYUN on the company’s official blog. LEE SUHYUN received such big gift for her birthday – the release of new songs and great record on charts. She expressed her gratitude on her social media channel, saying, “I really thank you”.
AKMU’s new album “SPRING” depicts a variety of feelings experienced by anyone in their daily lives, from AKMU’s unique point of view. “RE-BYE” is a jazz pop song which expresses a heart that does not want to be hurt by repeated small and big partings in daily life. The song boasts a remarkably catchy chorus part. “HOW PEOPLE MOVE” is a song that sings about curiosity arising in everyday lives of people in a funky sound. The two title tracks well-reveal AKMU’s multi-faceted appeals.
AKMU will hold an event titled “SPRING in Seoul Forest”, where fans can listen to AKMU’s new songs together at the outdoor stage of Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on May 5 at 3pm. May 5 is the Children’s Day.
