YG will be the producer and investor of drama series “Moon Lovers(Scarlet Heart): Ryeo” in cooperation with American NBC
[스타뉴스=윤상근 기자] YG Entertainment (“YG”) will be the co-producer and investor of drama series “Moon Lovers(Scarlet Heart (歩歩驚心)): Ryeo(麗)”, in collaboration with American major TV studio NBC Universal.
On the 25, YG made an official announcement, saying, “YG will invest in drama series ‘Scarlet Heart: Ryeo” (written by Cho Yoon-yeong, directed by Kim Gyoo-tae, and produced by YG Entertainment and NBC Universal), to lay the foundation for our contents, investment, distribution, and supplementary businesses”.
“Scarlet Heart: Ryeo” is a remake of China’s best-seller novel “Scarlet Heart” published in 2006. In 2011, it was made into a drama series in China already, to record No.1 in viewership ratings in the country.
Famous actors and actresses including Lee joon-gi, IU, Kang Ha-neul, Hong Jong-hyun, BaekHyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Jisoo, Seong Dong-il, and Kim Sung-gyun have confirmed their acting in “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo”. All the episode of the series will be 100% shot before the beginning of broadcasting. It is drawing a keen attention now in the entertainment scene, as it is the first Asian drama series in which American NBC Universal invests.
YG said, “By combining the advantage of this investment with our existing business know-hows, YG will try a variety of businesses with the contents of ‘Scarlet Heart: Ryeo’”.
YG also explained, “We will diversify our business by producing and planning diverse video content products such as behind-scene videos, along with release of cosmetic and oriental medicine products, media-commerce business based on the use of those products and drama contents, as well as character goods business of the drama series”.
Currently, discussions are underway for TV broadcasting of “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo” both in Korean and China in the second half of this year.
