Katie Kim’s Official Debut More Likely… YG and JINUSEAN Approves Featuring At Once
[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] The winner of SBS’s K-Pop Star Season 4, Katie Kim (22), is more likely to make an official debut earlier than expected.
Katie Kim’s victory was announced in April when she impressed viewers with her soulful voice. She decided to join YG Entertainment, which is one of the largest agencies in South Korea.
She will be making an appearance on April 10 on SBS’s Inkigayo, which will be her first stage as a member of YG Entertainment.
Recently many artists stood on stage to feature in JINUSEAN’s “TELL ME ONE MORE TIME” as a fellow YG member. Female artists from both in and outside of YG are featuring for the duo’s song. Katie Kim was chosen as the latest one following the original vocalist JANG HANNA and 2NE1’s DARA, and AKDONG MUSICIAN’s LEE SOO HYUN. The show will be aired on April 10 on Inkigayo.
The notable point is that prior to Katie Kim’s appearance on the music program for the first time as the agency’s members, YG’s Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK approved her featuring at once. He is known for being difficult and picky when it comes to music.
Person familiar with the matter told Star News on May 9, “Prior to Katie Kim’s appearing as a featuring artist for JINUSEAN on Inkigayo, Mr YANG advised her to showcase a performance that expresses her soul and emotions.” Later she rehearsed her part in front of Mr YANG, a performance of which he immediately approved.
The personnel continued, “Producer YANG has hardly ever given an approval at one go. It is highly unprecedented that he gave an approval to Katie Kim who has not even made an official debut yet.”
Such news builds expectations for Katie Kim on May 10.
Moreover, because of YANG’s swift approval for her performance, it became more likely that her official debut will be sooner than later.
YANG, after Katie Kim winning the audition program, told Star News, “We are going to feed her good food at YG canteen and also get 10 fitness trainers to make her as healthy as we can. Good health means good voice, and an attractive appearance will follow. For Katie Kim and her fans, we would like to accelerate the process of her debut.”
YANG’s satisfaction for the latest YG member is another hint that her debut will not be far into the future.
