Can iKON Now with SONG YUNHYEONG Follow WINNER’s Popularity… “Heightening” Interest
[스타뉴스 문완식 기자] YG Entertainment’s new idol group iKON is likely to emerge as “popular idol” following WINNER, drawing a big attention from the process of selecting and confirming its members.
YG Entertainment announced on the 4 at 12am on YG’s blog YG Life (www.yg-life.com), that SONG YUNHYEONG has been selected as the fifth member of iKON.
As SONG YUNHYEONG has been confirmed to be the member of iKON following B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, and KOO JUNHOE, words like “SONG YUNHYEONG” and “iKON” swept top places on major search engines’ search-word list. YG Life drew big attention, too, as the members were announced on it.
YG Entertainment will select two more among remaining members: KIM DONGHYUK, JUNG JINHYEONG, JUNG CHANWOO, and YANG HONGSEOK, to confirm final seven members of iKON. The sixth member will be announced on the 5 at 12am, and the final member will be announced in Mnet’s “MIX & MATCH” show to be aired on the 6 at 11pm.
iKON reminds of WINNER, YG’s another idol group who made debut in the first half of this year (KANG SEUNG YOON, LEE SEUNG HOON, SONG MIN HO, NAM TAE HYUN, and KIM JIN WOO). They are armed with handsome look and musical quality, and are following the footsteps of WINNER, who drew big attention in a survival audition program even before their debut and has been enjoying big popularity after the debut.
If current trend continues, iKON is expected to attract much attention after debut, like WINNER.
iKON’s is to make debut in a near future. Seven members of iKON will perform as a guest on the opening stage of group BIGBANG’s Japan five dome tour that will begin on the 15 and 16 in Nagoya.
Fans are paying keen attention to if iKON will emerge as another popular YG boy group, following the footsteps of WINNER.
