WINNER’s Debut Album Ranks 2nd on Japan’s Oricon Weekly Chart
[OSEN=김사라 기자] The debut album of a Korean boy group WINNER has ranked 2nd on Japan’s Oricon Weekly Chart.
Released on the 10th of this month, 35,079 units of WINNER’s Japanese version debut album “2014 S/S -Japan Collection-“ have been sold. The album ranked 2nd on the Oricon Weekly Chart, following the 2nd place on the Daily Chart.
WINNER has been very successful in Korea, dominating the country’s music charts and winning the first place on TV music programs in the shortest period of time among the new singers. Despite the fact that it’s not been so long since they made a debut, WINNER’s album in its Japanese version is doing very well, gaining a lot of popularity in Japan.
With the success of their Japanese debut album, WINNER has got off to a good start with their first Japanese concert tour “WINNER 1st JAPAN TOUR 2014,” starting the 11th of this month.
Putting the keywords and branding that characterize the boy group, such as ‘city boys’ and ‘stylish,’ WINNER’s first live concert tour features fashion show-like effects, a stage that evokes neon-lighted streets in New York and show theaters, choreography, and songs, every single one of which was written by WINNER.
KANG SEUNG YOON talked about WINNER’s enthusiasm and passion about music as he mentioned this concert featuring 19 songs in about two hours, saying, “The music of WINNER is essentially about healing, not competing and winning against others. And we hope that the listeners will have positive and powerful thoughts and turn out to be winners at the end of the day.”
WINNER is scheduled to have 11 tours in 5 cities, which is an unprecedentedly large scale for a newcomer. They are performing on Sep. 23 in Sapporo (ZEPP SAPPORO), Sep. 28 in Fukuoka (ZEPP FUKUOKA), Sep. 30 and Oct. 1 in Nagoya (ZEPP NAGOYA), Oct. 3 and 4 in Osaka (ZEPP NAMBA), and Oct. 10 and 11 in Tokyo (ZEPP TOKYO).
Meanwhile, WINNER is hosting a meeting with their fans at 11 p.m. today (Sep. 16) via ‘Naver Starcast On Air Talk Show with WINNER.’
