WINNER takes over other countries: Tops 4 global iTunes
[OSEN=선미경 기자] YG’s new boy group WINNER’s popularity has proven to be borderless, as the group topped 4 iTunes around the world.
At 8 am (Korean time) on August 13, WINNER’s album “2014 S/S” released at 0 hour of August 12 topped 4 iTunes in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Apart from this, it is a runner-up in 5 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand while #8 in Finland, #9 in Macau, #15 in Sweden, #16 in Norway, #17 in New Zealand, #41 in Denmark, #43 in Australia, #44 in the U.S., #44 in Russia, and #50 in Canada. In another words, WINNER was in the top 50 in 19 countries, while being in the top 200 in 30 others.
The title track “EMPTY” ranked within the top 100 of Top Singles Songs on 8 iTunes like ranking #6 in Thailand and #7 in Singapore and Taiwan. The other title “COLOR RING” ranked #15 in Vietnam, #23 in Taiwan, #27 in Singapore and #29 in Hong Kong.
The achievement is more meaningful as all the members were involved in writing and composing the entire album. They focused on making it perfect by even postponing the debut date, and their devotion paid off as the album swept across charts home and abroad immediately after release.
“EMPTY,” a song that expresses the emptiness after a breakup, is a joint work by BOBBY and B.I from WIN’s B TEAM, written by SONG MIN HO. “COLOR RING” is a work by KANG SEUNG YOON, SONG MIN HO and LEE SEUNG HOON, in which KANG SEUNG YOON was in charge as the main producer.
WINNER’s first official debut performance will be on August 15 when YG Family holds their concert ‘AIA REAL LIFE: NOW FESTIVAL 2014’ at Seoul’s Jamsil Sports Complex.
