6 major Japanese sports papers include a special section on YG’s new idol WINNER
[뉴스엔 엔터테인먼트 부] The news on the formation of YG Entertainment’s newest boy group WINNER attracted great interest from the Japanese media, leading 6 major sports papers to include a special section in their edition.
The papers include Nikkan Sports, Sankei Sports, Sports Hochi, Sports Nippon, Junichi Sports and Daily Sports, and they published articles on Oct 27 under the headlines ‘WINNER lands in Japan,’ and ‘We are WINNER,’ delivering the news of the new boy group to the local fans. A daily newspaper named Kitanippon Shimbun also unprecedentedly reported the news on a foreign artist, WINNER.
The aforementioned newspapers reported the latest news on WINNER, the original Team A (Kang Seung Yoon, Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo, Lee Seung Hoon and Nam Tae Hyun) who won the final battle of ‘WHO IS NEXT: WIN’ on Oct 25, that they are scheduled to perform for the opening stage of BIGBANG’s 6 largest Dome Tour in Japan along with including songs with Japanese lyrics in their first album.
It is rare for artists to be showered in this much spotlight by the Japanese media about their process of becoming professionals even before their debut, especially when the media come all the way to Korea. The sizes of the articles are unprecedentedly big, with every medium reporting the news, making this a big issue in Japan. The high expectations for the new YG artists are thought to be coming from the huge popularity of BIGBANG in Japan, as they belong to the exact agency.
YG Japan’s President Watanabe Yoshimi stated, “The 6 major sports paper publishing articles on WINNER is a clear testament to fans’ high expectation for the group.”
In fact, BIGBANG will kick off its 6 largest Dome Tour in Japan on Nov 16, which is a first for a foreign artist.
Meanwhile, Team A, now WINNER, will enter the preparation phase for their debut after 2 long months of battles on ‘WIN’ since Aug 23.
On Oct 28, the four songs of the last mission by Teams A and B will be released, to melt the hearts of the listeners with their honest lyrics once again.
