TREASURE Tops Major Japanese Music Charts
[마이데일리=여동은 기자] YG’s major rookie group TREASURE dominated major Japanese music charts with their debut title song ‘BOY’, decorating the headlines of major local media.
TREASURE’s title song ‘BOY’ from their first debut album topped Japan’s Line Music Top 100 Real-time chart on August 8. The song was also ranked at no. 1 on Rakuten Music’s Real-time Comprehensive Rankings and AWA’s Rising Chart. The song was of course, ranked at no. 1 on Japan iTunes Pop Chart and K-Pop chart as well. The song is currently at no. 3 on the Comprehensive chart at the moment.
6 major sport newspapers of Japan and terrestrial networks also spotlighted TREASURE. Daily Sports, Sports Hochi, Sports Nippon, Tokyo Junichi Sports, Sankei Sports, and Daily Sports covered TREASURE’s global debut as their headline, giving their profile and the global fans’ response major coverage.
Sankei Sports introduced TREASURE as ‘BIGBANG’s brother group, the major rookie group containing Japanese members’ and spotlighted YOSHI·MASHIHO·ASAHI·HARUTO. They also emphasized, “It is the first time that members from Japan have debuted in YG”.
Fuji TV’s famous wide show, ‘Mezamashi Toyobi’, reported the heat of the press conference held in Korea, the MV for ‘BOY’, thoughts of Japanese members, and their YouTube records, while looking forward to their upcoming performance in Japan. It is unprecedented for a group who are yet to make debut be reported with so much coverage, which shows the heated local interest and anticipation toward TREASURE.
TREASURE is YG’s major rookie group being announced in 4 years since BLACKPINK. Composed of 12 members including CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN, the group is receiving attention as the biggest rookies of K-Pop in 2020.
The title song ‘BOY’ from TREASURE’s first single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ released on the 7th at 6 PM topped iTunes Song charts in 19 different countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
As they are a group formed to target the global market, Treasure Makers(fandom) all across the globe cheered at TREASURE’s debut.
TREASURE’s ‘DEBUT COUNTDOWN LIVE’ broadcast held 2 hours prior to the release of the album reached over 3M viewers and over 1B hearts.
The MV for ‘BOY’ surpassed 6.2M views in half a day since its release on YouTube, making the people look forward to when it will surpass 10M views. TREASURE’s official YouTube channel subscribers also increased by 250 thousand after their debut, adding up to a total of 1.61M.
TREASURE will appear on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ on the 9th and have their first music broadcast debut performance.
