G-Dragon Sweeping Music & Album Charts in Taiwan & Hong Kong… “Displaying Great Potential”
[OSEN=김경주 기자] Boy band Big Bang’s G-Dragon has been showing a great potential, by sweeping music charts of Taiwan and Hong Kong, following his success in Korea’s music charts.
G-Dragon’s second regular album “COUP D’ETAT” was released on the 4 and then, it has been setting records in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The album has topped the music chart of KKBOX, the biggest music web-site of the two countries and title tracks of the album have been ranked in top 10 places in the chart.
“COOKED”, one of the title tracks of the album was preliminarily released on the 13 last month, before the official release of the album and since then, the track has been in the first place in charts until now. Then, after the other tracks were released, total five tracks including not only “CROOKED” but also “COUP D’ETAT”, “R.O.D”, “WHO YOU?”, and ‘BLACK” were racked in the top 10 places on the week’s music chart.
Furthermore, the new album of G-Dragon also topped the KKBOX weekly album chart, not only in the music chart, showing his great potential in the album market.
After sweeping the KKBOX music charts, G-Dragon topped the weekly music chart of MY MUSIC TAIWAN, one of the leading Taiwanese music web-sites, with “COUP D’ETAT”. Then, “CROOKED” topped the weekly music chart of OMUSIC TAIWAN, once again proving his high popularity in the country.
Other than that, G-Dragon’s title tracks have been in the top places in the rankings of bell and ring tone web-sites including Taiwan Mobile Telecom Company.
As G-Dragon has recently topped album charts of Gaon and Hantuh of Korea, he further solidified his position in the music and album markets at the same time, which is a rare case for a male solo artist. His latest second full solo album has also been under the spotlight of both domestic and foreign media, with highly sophisticated and polished music and colorful performances.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon is joining the other members of Big Bang, for a six dome tour concert in Japan in November.
