[뉴스엔=이민지 기자] YG’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER is receiving enthusiastic responses for their solid live performances. As of April 15th, according to the Melon chart, BABYMONSTER’s “SHEESH” successfully entered the daily chart at 88th position.

Immediately after its release, “SHEESH” had been positioned within the top 200 of Melon’s TOP100 but began climbing following the commencement of their music show appearances. It has now reached the 17th spot on the HOT100 and also secured the 1st position in real-time on Naver Vibe. The impressive live skills of BABYMONSTER seem to suggest a continued ascent in the charts.

The lead track “SHEESH” from BABYMONSTER’s debut 1st mini album ‘BABYMONS7ER’ features confident lyrics and a majestic sound, defining the unique musical color of BABYMONSTER. The rhythmically repeating chorus offers a strong addiction, while the whirlwind of rapping and explosive vocals continue relentlessly.

K-pop fans are particularly impressed by the flawless live abilities of the members. BABYMONSTER began their broadcast activities on April 7th with SBS ‘Inkigayo’ and have received explosive reactions. A live performance revealed through KBS CoolFM ‘Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show’ on the 15th has also garnered high views due to keen interest.

BABYMONSTER’s stage performances, which feature powerful vocals that seamlessly transition between high and low tones, captivating raps, and seasoned performances not typical of newcomers, quickly spread by word of mouth.

The synergy created by the complete seven-member formation, including the addition of member AHYEON, following pre-debut singles “BATTER UP” and “Stuck In The Middle,” is significantly contributing to their success. The vocal distribution that highlights the unique strengths of each member’s voice is also notable. Despite having several foreign members, their perfect diction has been well-received.

Music fans have responded to BABYMONSTER’s chart success with comments like, “The members are skilled, so the charts are reacting,” “A group that sings well is likable,” “They perform so well, I want to support them,” “I had to take a break from replaying their live performances,” and “I hope they appear more on music shows; I want to see more of their performances.”

BABYMONSTER’s success was already hinted during their pre-debut period. “BATTER UP” broke the record for the highest number of views in 24 hours for a K-pop debut song (22.59 million views in one day) and continued to set records with 50 million views in 4 days, 100 million in 18 days, and 200 million in 53 days.

Fueled by this, their official debut album ‘BABYMONS7ER’ sold over 400,000 copies in its first week, setting a new record for the highest first-week sales of any K-pop girl group debut album. The music video for the title track “SHEESH” also broke the record for the fastest K-pop girl group debut song to reach 100 million views on YouTube in just 11 days.

With YG ENTERTAINMENT’s producing skills and the members’ solid abilities shining brightly, BABYMONSTER is on a rising trend not just in global metrics but also in the domestic charts. Their future activities are drawing keen interest.
