BABYMONSTER: “Honored to Be BLACKPINK’s Sister Group… Will Show ‘Hip+Teen’ YG DNA”
[스포티비뉴스=장진리 기자] BABYMONSTER has expressed their determination as the “sister group” of BLACKPINK.
During their first mini album ‘BABYMONSTER’ interview held on April 1 at YG Entertainment (hereafter YG) building in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, BABYMONSTER stated, “Just being able to be called the ‘sister group’ is a huge honor.”
BABYMONSTER has garnered attention as the new girl group from YG, debuting 7 years after BLACKPINK. They made their pre-debut last year with “BATTER UP” and now officially debut as a complete seven-member group including AHYEON, also known as ‘Little Jennie,’ who had to pause activities due to health reasons.
RAMI, regarding being labeled as BLACKPINK’s “sister group,” said, “Just the fact that we can be called that is a huge honor. Thanks to this, we’ve received a lot of attention both before and after our debut, which is very honorable for us.”
RORA added, “Even during our survival program, YG EXECUTIVE PRODUCER YANG HYUN SUK came as a mentor, watched our performances, gave us many comments, and taught us about the attitude we should have towards the audience. He also visited us frequently during our monthly evaluations, giving us lots of advice since our trainee days.”
Stepping up as the ‘YG Girl Group’ following BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER shared, “We plan to move forward with our own color, confidence, and strong teamwork. We are a group filled with YG DNA. We’re hip, we’re teen, and we’re bursting with potential for growth, which is our charm.”
