[JTBC=김진석 기자] TREASURE fires the starting gun on its foray into the North American market, hand in hand with Columbia Records.

YG ENTERTAINMENT announced on the 3rd, “TREASURE has entered into a partnership with Columbia Records, a major American record company. With this, TREASURE plans to target the North American music market, which is the world’s largest, with their second full album ‘REBOOT.'”

Columbia Records, which will support TREASURE, is a local record label under Sony Music Entertainment. They have accumulated a great deal of know-how and successful cases through collaborations with prominent K-pop artists. Recently, Columbia Records discovered TREASURE’s limitless potential, looking for new K-pop artists suitable for the American market trend, and this led to the partnership. They will support a wide range of promotions, including local music distribution specifically for TREASURE.

TREASURE has established a solid fandom in the Asian market and has been cementing its status as a next-generation global star. Particularly this year, they successfully completed a tour of 17 cities with 40 performances in Asia. In the U.S and Japan, considered the two largest music markets, they attracted nearly 300,000 spectators, the most among K-pop artists who embarked on a tour after debut.

In the second half of this year, TREASURE is at a new starting point. YANG HYUN SUK, the executive producer, personally announced their comeback, promising significant changes, declaring, “TREASURE will be reborn.” As they have officially announced their entry into the North American market along with this, it is expected that this partnership will serve as a trigger for their leap as global artists.

They will release their second full album filled with new songs in August.
