[더팩트=정병근 기자] JISOO of BLACKPINK has broken a new record as a K-pop female solo artist on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

According to her agency YG Entertainment on May 2, JISOO’s debut solo album title track ‘FLOWER’ surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. This achievement was made in just 32 days since its release on March 31, making it the fastest record for a K-pop female solo artist.

The previous shortest records for K-pop female solo artists to reach 100 million streams on Spotify were held by LISA with ‘MONEY’ (37 days) and ‘LALISA’ (46 days). BLACKPINK members now hold the top three positions in this category, once again proving their overwhelming presence in the global music market.

‘FLOWER’ has already achieved meaningful results on various global charts. It set a new record for K-pop female solo artists by entering Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global Chart at 6th and the UK Official Singles Top 100 Chart at 38th. It also ranked 2nd on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S charts.

The album sales were also overwhelming. ‘ME’ recorded a total of 1,172,351 sales from March 31 to April 6, achieving the million-seller status and breaking the record for the highest first-week sales for a K-pop female solo artist.

BLACKPINK, which JISOO is a member of, is currently on the largest-scale world tour for a K-pop girl group, attracting about 1.5 million people. Following the successful ongoing Asia tour, they have stadium tours planned in Paris, France, and four cities in North America.

Recently, BLACKPINK became the first K-pop act to headline the world’s largest music festival, the US ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival,’ attracting enthusiastic responses from global music fans. They will also be the first K-pop artist to headline the UK music festival ‘Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival’ held in July.
