“FLOWER CREW” in collaboration with YG… Will it be the savior for SBS’s Monday show?

On August 22, production briefing of SBS’s new TV show “FLOWER CREW” was held at SBS Hall located in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.
As “FLOWER CREW” is a whole new format of a TV show, attendees of the briefing were asked to cast votes for the fate of the cast members. Seo Jang-hoon, one of the cast, was selected as the head of the “hard way team” by getting 44 votes. Seo jokingly said, “I don’t think people here today are my good friends. I thought Korea’s media had high standard, but it was actually not.” “To live up to your expectations, I’ll drive six hours all the way to the South Sea”, added Seo.
In the following question and answer session, the show’s producer Park Seung-min asked for interest in the new show, while also mentioning a problem found in the pilot version of “FLOWER CREW” where the focus was more put on popularity vote. He said, “The show will be live-broadcasted today at 9PM and we have made some enhancements. There is also a change in the voting method. You’ll find out how much ‘FLOWER CREW’ has evolved.”
Producer Park also talked about how guest cast members will be utilized in the show. He said, “From now on, there will be many guests invited to the show. Some of them will spend two nights and three days with the fixed cast and some others will stay for just a day, like TWICE. In the past, guests were added only to the “easy way team”, but from now on, all of the cast will take hard challenges together.”
Lee Jaijin who is trying a variety TV show for the first time in “FLOWER CREW” is drawing big attention. Lee said, “I have firm confidence in Eun Jiwon, as he has long worked in ‘One Night and Two Days’ show. All my concerns just disappeared after I watched the pilot version of ‘FLOWER CREW’. I believe and rely on Eun Jiwon much.”
Jo Se-ho also expressed his expectations for Eun Jiwon and Lee Jaijin. Jo said, “This show will depict all the funnier overnight trip of guys. In the pilot version of the show, our attitude was like ‘let’s just do it well for today’, but now, I have many thoughts in my mind as I think this program will last long. I want to give viewers of this show many opportunities to burst into big laughter.”
Notably, YG Entertainment directly takes part in the production of “FLOWER CREW” show, to draw keen attention from the public. Recently, YG’s CEO YANG HYUN SUK made people burst into laughter when he explained the reason why he decided to participate in the production of “FLOWER CREW”. YANG said, “I decided to do this all because of Yoo Byeong-jae.” Then, Yoo Byeong-jae answered, “I think Mr. YANG is better to release YG singers albums faster rather than taking care of me.”
Eun Jiwon will appear in two overnight trip shows: “FLOWER CREW” and KBS 2TV’s “Happy Sunday – One Night and Two Days”. Eun Jiwon said, “I have big anticipation for the new format of this show. I’m also looking forward to working with Lee Jaijin.” To a question about his knee problems, Eun answered, “They say knees are consumables. The only way to get it well is to exercise regularly, but I’m not that into exercising. So I go to the hospital to get a shot once in every three months.”
Ahn Jeong-hwan’s outspoken comments also made attendees of the briefing burst into laughter. He expressed his affection for “FLOWER CREW”, saying, “I thought this show would never be added to the regular program schedule but it actually was, so I don’t like it. It will be too hot to shoot outdoors in these scorching hot days. But the merit of this show is that it makes the cast members use their brains constantly. This program is more hard-core than ‘Rules of the Jungle’ show. There, Kim Byeong-man builds houses and hunts for foods, but here, we have do everything on our own. I actually love this show because I can experience good and hard things at the same time.”
Lastly, producer Park Seung-min said, “The show has been added to the regular programming of SBS, so the relationships between the six cast members will keep changing constantly. I want to show different relationships between them, to make this show all the funnier.” Seo Jang-hoon highlighted, “I would like to ask for viewers’ understanding first. As this show is for fun, there would be no reason to make this show if all the cast members just stay loyal to each other and if all we do is just to take care of one another. Then, this show will not be seen by many. We’ll do it like real life. Even if some personal weaknesses and bad characters are revealed in the show, we’ll do it like our real lives, to make it funnier to enjoy more long-run popularity.”
In “FLOWER CREW” show, the cast members are divided into “easy way” team and “hard way” team according to the result of real-time voting during the broadcasting. They go on a trip for two nights and three days; the “easy way” team enjoys all the luxuries of the trip, while the “hard way” team has to complete the trip despite all the challenges and unfavorable conditions. Seo Jang-hoon was voted as the head of the “hard way” team by attendees of the production briefing held on August 22. The next real-time voting will be opened on NAVER TV-LIVE on August 22 at 9PM and on August 23 at 9PM. The first episode of “FLOWER CREW” will be aired on September 5 at 11:10PM.
