YG BABYMONSTER To Debut As 5-member Group…Final Members to be Revealed on May 12th
[스타뉴스=이승훈 기자] YG Entertainment’s new girl group BABYMONSTER will debut as a 5-member group.
YG posted BABYMONSTER – ‘Last Evaluation’ EP.8 on its official social media on the 28th. This marks the unveiling of the final episode of the debut reality show that had created legendary stages in each episode while the members perspired for their dreams.
The potential BABYMONSTER members repeatedly practiced the dance routine for a 2NE1 mashup, their final mission, under the guidance of YGX dance trainer LEEJUNG. They not only quickly grasped the high-level choreography but also surprised LEEJUNG by maximizing the charm of the original songs with their detailed control of intensity. The creative choreography of ‘Can’t Nobody’, which showcased each member’s unique charm, was a special highlight. RUKA’s intensely addictive performance, ASA’s powerful energy, and HARAM’s complete understanding and expression of the song were selected. CHIQUITA became the solo dancer of the ‘Fire’ signature choreography, receiving high praise for her attention-grabbing presence.
Finally, the day of the last evaluation arrived. The members’ flawless, synchronized group dance and their shining individuality harmoniously blended on stage, heating up the atmosphere. YG’s senior artists praised the performance, saying, “It was a stage we dare not evaluate,” and “We felt your sincerity, and it was touching.”
After pouring everything into the final evaluation, the members encouraged each other with warm applause and hugs. With tears in their eyes, they recalled past evaluations and said, “We couldn’t have done it alone,” “We were happy to be together,” and “I hope everything goes well for everyone,” sharing heartfelt emotions.
As the ‘Last Evaluation’ comes to an end, curiosity about the final BABYMONSTER debut lineup peaks. YANG HYUN SUK, the executive producer, said, “BABYMONSTER was planned as a 5-member group from the beginning,” and “I haven’t decided on the members in my heart yet. The final members will be announced publicly at midnight on May 12th.”
BABYMONSTER is YG’s first new girl group in about 7 years since BLACKPINK. The potential members include three Koreans (AHYEON, HARAM, RORA), two Thais (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and two Japanese (RUKA, ASA), most of whom are teenagers. As YG has been preparing this project for a long time, they are expected to change the landscape of not only the domestic music scene but also the global music market. Billboard predicted that BABYMONSTER would “create a new wave in the K-pop genre” and selected them as a ‘K-pop artist to watch.’
