[OSEN=선미경 기자] YG’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER has set the global fandom ablaze by unveiling their unique take on a vocal cover.

On the 25th, YG Entertainment shared a cover video of BLACKPINK’s ‘STAY’ on their official social media, featuring BABYMONSTER ASA, HARAM, RORA, and CHIQUITA. The video captured an even more intense version of the stage they previously showed in BABYMONSTER – ‘Last Evaluation’ EP.3.

Despite being pre-debut rookies, their outstanding vocal abilities and rich emotional expressions are undeniable. As soon as the song starts, HARAM caught the listeners’ attention with her distinctive tone and unwavering live performance, drawing continuous admiration as she delicately portrays the complex emotions of an impending breakup.

RORA immersed herself entirely in the music, crafting her own unique style. Her deep-toned, unpretentious voice landed directly into listeners’ hearts, while her signature smooth groove amplifies the original song’s lyrical charm.

CHIQUITA then joined HARAM and RORA, adding more volume to the song with their beautiful harmony. CHIQUITA’s clear and refreshing tone created perfect harmony with the string sound, gradually heightening the atmosphere of the song and enhancing the immersive experience.

ASA added more color to the song by adding a new rap to the original track, diversifying the listening pleasure. Her relaxed expression and gestures had this magic charm that drew in viewers, as she freely navigated the melody with her remarkable sense of rhythm and delivers a stylish rap.

Following Team A’s cover of ‘Gone,’ Team B also showcased BABYMONSTER’s unique musical colors and limitless potential. The global fans’ anticipation is growing daily, as the prospective members demonstrate their all-rounder abilities in vocals, rap, and visuals.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is YG’s first rookie girl group they’re showcasing in about seven years since BLACKPINK. The prospective members include three Koreans (AHYEON, HARMA, RORA), two Thais (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and two Japanese (RUKA, ASA), most of whom are teenagers. Their debut reality show ‘LAST EVALUATION’ to choose final members is released every Friday at midnight.
