BABYMONSTER, YG’s New Girlgroup in 7 Years Since BLACKPINK Unveils Second Member AHYEON…‘Unrivaled Vocal + Trendy Rapping’
[한국경제TV=유병철 기자] YG unveiled the second live clip of their new girlgroup BABYMONSTER.
On the 16th, YG Entertainment put up a video titled ‘BABYMONSTER (#2) – AHYEON (Live Performance)’. AHYEON, the second member they unveiled following HARAM, was also 15 years old. She sang ‘Sway With Me’ by Saweetie & GALXARA, and portrayed her confidence and energy on top of fast dubstep beats.
In the video, AHYEON proved herself as an all rounder, boasting explosive rap and singing kills. It was unbelievable how she’s only 15 as it could be clearly seen that she was enjoying the stage, not to mention her already stylish gestures and stage manners. She interpreted the song in her own way based on a deep understanding, and added her own taste with hip swags.
BABYMONSTER is a girl group YG is launching in 7 years since BLACKPINK. Detailed information such as how they’ll be making their debut, total number of members, and the concept hasn’t been unveiled just yet.
In the first teaser video, YG artists such as BLACKPINK JENNIE & LISA, YOON and HOONY from WINNER, and LEE CHANHYUK and LEE SUHYUN from AKMU praised the group’s skills through an interview.
YG said, “Expectations are running high globally as YANG HYUN SUK returned in 3 years and 6 months as an executive producer and notified the debut of BABYMONSTER himself. In fact, the three teaser clips released ever since the launch of the new girl group project on January 1st have continued to rise sharply, surpassing 40 million views”.
YG is showing great confidence in not only the attention but the skill sets members have.
This can be seen through the teaser content, as they’re all live videos of the trainees performing. Live videos of other trainees are expected to be put up one by one.
YG said, “BABYMONSTER are still trainees that haven’t made their debut yet. We decided that it’s important for them to be evaluated and acknowledged by the public just by their skills. That’s why we wanted to present their skills first instead of concept photos of interviews. Please evaluate them the way you see and hear them”.
According to YG, BABYMONSTER consists of members in their teens , and also include members from a foreign country. Attention is being drawn to how and when they will make their debut, with details unveiling one by one.
As YG prepared for the launching for such a long time, it’s expected that the group will be the game changer in the global music industry, going beyond the Korean music market.
