BLACKPINK Performs at U.S. ‘VMAs’ for the First Time as a Korean Girl-Group…takes Home 2 Awards
[뉴스엔=황혜진 기자] Group BLACKPINK (LISA, JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ) took the stage of MTV VMAs, for the first time as a Korean female group.
BLACKPINK attended the ‘MTV VMAs’ held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on August 28 (local time).
BLACKPINK was officially invited to the awards ceremony as a performer. It is the first time a K-POP female artist was invited to take the stage of ‘MTV VMAs’, which is one of the four major U.S. pop music awards along with the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards.
BLACKPINK performed their pre-release song ‘Pink Venom’ which was released on the 19th from their 2nd full album ‘BORN PINK’. The girls amazed the audience and viewers by showing off their perfect live skills despite their full-on performance. American singer Taylor Swift, who was in the audience seat, also dreaw attention as she passionately sang and danced along BLACKPINK’s songs.
After performing successfully, BLACKPINK went back to their seats and put a smile on fans by enjoying the stages performed by their fellow musicians.
BLACKPINK also took home awards during the ceremony. The group was nominated for the Group of the Year and Best Metaverse Performance and LISA’s ‘LALISA’ was nomiated for the and Best K-pop of the year. They took home the Best Metaverse Performance and the Best K-pop award.
Meanhile, BLACKPINK, which swept music charts both home and abroad with their pre-release song, will release their 2nd full album on the 16th of September.
