Now world star South Korean rapper Psy appeared on a national television in the United States to perform his two mega-hit songs on NBC. He sang “Gangnam Style” and the follow-up “Gentleman” on the Today Show. In an interview after the show he yelled out “Republic of Korea Mansae!” (which is a Korean word often used when expressing that something is the best), which moved the hearts of many Koreans living both in the U.S. and in South Korea.

He appeared on the show on May 3 at 8:30 a.m. (New York time) at the Rockefeller Center. In his performance, he not only showed his viral horse-ride dance but also the “arrogant dance” from his latest song “Gentleman.” The audience danced along.

Matt Lauer, the MC of the show, surprised the audience by imitating the arrogant dance since he only watched Psy dance the horse-ride dance when Psy first visited the show last year with “Gangnam Style.” The usually shy and calm MC made the audience laugh when he told them he was so nervous about dancing the arrogant dance that he could only get a 45-minute sleep the previous night.

The interview was conducted right after “Gentleman” was over, where Psy yelled out “Korea Mansae!”, showing great love for his country. He was so moved and touched by the applauding from the American audience that his eyes seemed to be teary.

Before the show, on Twitter, Psy wrote: “I feel proud and humbled by the thought that I am performing my two songs that I made on an American national television. I can never get used to the idea no matter how much I think about it. I won’t look cool, but I’m going to make it cool.”

Psy will be on TV again on May 6 for ABC’s Live! With Kelly & Michael, which will be aired live to show off his new arrogant dance from his latest singles. He will be teaching how to dance it too. The show is a popular one in the U.S, which is run by the two MC’s Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.
