iKON Takes 1st Spot on iTunes Chart in 18 Countries -> Tops Japanese Charts
[뉴스엔=황혜진 기자] Group iKON proved their everlasting global popularity by taking over the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart, along with major Japanese music sites as well.
According to YG Entertainment on the 4th, iKON’s 4th mini-album ‘FLASHBACK’ took the first spot of the iTunes Chart in 18 areas such as Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Indonesia, and Vietnam. It also performed extremely well (7th) in the United States, the world’s largest pop market.
Their popularity in Japan in particular is outstanding. Their title-song ‘BUT YOU’ took the first spot on Japan’s major music site Rakuten Music and AWA’s real-time ranking.
Not only this, but their track-songs such as ‘DRAGON’, ‘FOR REAL?’, ‘GOLD’, and ‘NAME’ all successfully entered the Line Music Chart, all receiving interest and love.
Following the popularity, iKON will be holding 6 concerts in Japan’s two cities, Kobe and Tokyo, from the 2nd and 10th of July. Their Japan tour comes in about 2 years and 6 months. Explosive responses are expected as people are looking forward to the performance of their new song as well.
Meanwhile, right after their debut in 2015, iKON took the first spot on Japan’s Oricon Chart, and swept rookie awards that year at major Japanese music festivals such as ‘Japan Gold Disc Awards’, and ‘Japan Record Awards’.
They then accumulated more than 1 million audiences for their Japanese tour in 2019, selling all tickets for their show.
