iKON “First Time Trying Out Retro Vibes, First Genre We’ve tried”
[YTN=곽현수 기자] iKON held a press conference commemorating the release of their 4th mini-album ‘FLASHBACK’ at the auditorium of YG Entertainment’s new building located in Seoul Mapogu District Hapjeongdong at 11AM on the 3rd.
DK of iKON said “We challenged ourselves with a retro vibe by adding synthwave to the title song. Everything in terms of the M/V, recording, and choreography was new. That’s why we’re curious as to how the public will see our album”.
CHAN said “When we first heard ‘BUT YOU’, even though it was a genre we’ve never done before, all our members and YG staff showed great reactions to it. It didn’t take long for us to decide it as our title-song”.
Their album ‘FLASHBACK’ which comes after a year and 2 months as a whole group, depicts the ‘flashback’ technology used in movies to show different scenes in periodic order. As it is mainly used to express tension, intensity of emotions, or scenes from past memories, it makes the public look even more toward iKON’s constantly changing charm.
Their title-song ‘BUT YOU’ is a song that reinterpreted pop music from the 80s with a modern sound, and has impressive lyrics that shows the emotions of not being able to get over an individual’s ex-partner.
