YG TREASURE, from ‘JIKJIN’, ‘DARARI’, To Now ‘U’…Takes First Spot on Japan’s Biggest Music Site
[OSEN=이승훈 기자] Following the popularity of ‘JIKJIN’ and ‘DARARI’ by YG rookie group ‘TREASURE’, their song ‘U’ has also swept Japan’s largest music platform.
TREASURE unveiled the Japanese version of their first mini-album ‘THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ on the 31st of March. Their track-song ‘U’ went straight up to on Japan’s Line Music Top Song 100 Real-time Chart, proving how popular the group is in the country.
‘U’ is a trendy easy-listening pop genre, and is a song that highlights members’ soft voices and their falseto style of singing. It’s earned favorable reviews as it portrays how TREASURE members feel and is known to be a trendy MZ style serenade.
Their title-song JIKJIN’s Japanese version was released around 2 years ago, and took over the charts of Line Music’s real-time, daily, and weekly (2022.03.16~2022.03.22) chart. It was a meaningful feat after taking over the chart with the Korean version of the song.
It seems like there is no stop to TREASURE’s popularity, even though they’re not carrying out any overseas activities. Not only their title-song, but their track-songs are also being loved. Thanks to this trend, the group is listing themselves on various global charts for 6 consecutive weeks.
Previously, their other track-song ‘DARARI’ started gaining popularity among global fans and started climbing up global platforms such as U.S. Billboard, TikTok, Spotify, and TIDAL.
To pay back such love, TREASURE will start their follow-up activities with ‘DARARI’, beginning with their concert stage on the 9th and 10th of April. YG had previously said they decided to produce a M/V for the song, raising even more expectations on their synergy.
Meanwhile, TREASURE increased their popularity indicators such as album sales, song records, and YouTube by around 3 times in just a year with their min-album ‘THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE’.
The Korean album has currently sold more than 800,000 copies, and listed itself on the first spot of iTunes Worldwide Album Chart, after coming first in 30 different countries. It then took home two trophies from Korea’s February Gaon Chart, and swept Japan’s Oricon Weekly Chart.
