‘BLACKPINK Island’ is Here… YG Opens ‘In Your Area’

[뉴시스=이재훈 기자] Group ‘BLACKPINK’ will strengthen their connection with the fans through ‘Metaverse’, the 3D virtual space platform.

According to YG Entertainment on August 6, BLACKPINK opened their own island, ‘In Your Area’, in the Nintendo Switch game ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’.

The island features ‘BLACKPINK House’ which became a topic for being the location of BLACKPINK’s reality program’, the stage of ‘THE SHOW’(2021), and the MV sets for ‘Kill This Love’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, and ‘Ice Cream’.

The island also recreates BLACKPINK’s actual workplace, including the recording studio and dance practice room within YG’s new headquarters in detail.

It is one of the events held to celebrate BLACKPINK’s 5-year debut anniversary.

YG introduced, “The event was prepared with BLACKPINK members’ hopes to erase the boundaries of time and space, as well as their hopes to expand their interactions with global fans”. The agency added, “It is BLACKPINK’s attempt to expand channels of communication using various opportunities while it is hard to meet the fans face to face(due to COVID-19)”.

BLACKPINK has previously held a fan signing event through Zepeto, the global AR avatar service. They also recently joined Weverse, the global fan community platform.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s 5-year debut anniversary is on August 8. ‘BLACKPINK THE MOVIE’, the film produced to celebrate the group’s past 5 years, has globally premiered on the 4th in over 100 countries worldwide.
