AKMU Appears on ‘IU’s Palette’ for the First Time… Performs ‘NAKKA’ Live Together
[OSEN=지민경 기자] AKMU and IU performed ‘NAKKA’ live for the first time, grabbing the music fans’ eyes and ears.
On July 27, AKMU appeared on episode 9 of ‘IU’s Palette’ on YouTube, and presented a live performance of ‘NAKKA’, the title track of their new album titled [NEXT EPISODE].
On ‘NAKKA’ starting with LEE SUHYUN’s beautiful vocals, IU’s delicate vocals were added, creating a beautiful harmony. LEE CHANHYUK’s familiar moves were added on to their performance, making the fans cheer at the collaborative performance of the three people, which is hard to watch from TV shows.
The behind story on ‘NAKKA’ was also revealed. AKMU who met IU for the first time at a concert back in 2014 used the ‘IU pass’. IU laughed and stated, “It was a worthy challenge that was possible to be made because it’s AKMU”.
On the question asking about the message of ‘NAKKA’, LEE CHANHYUK answered, “If you fall without ground, I felt that you would look like flying from the other side of the earth” and added, “I wanted to put a hopeful message”.
AKMU and IU also performed each other’s representative hit songs. LEE SUHYUN reinterpreted IU’s ‘Twenty-three’ in her own style, presenting a ‘ear pleasuring’ live performance. She explained the reason why she chose the song by stating, “As a 23-year-old, I felt hope listening to IU’s story”.
IU performed AKMU’s ‘Farewell’ from their 3rd album [Sailing] in a calm voice, touching the emotions of listeners. IU revealed, “It’s my favorite song from ‘Sailing’. It’s a song I want to give a hug”.
After the show, the fans showed enthusiastic responses. The fans praised the show by commenting, “Falling to ‘IKMU’ with my eyes closed”, “Healing itself”, “I love the collab by my favorites”, and “Please stay with this combination forever”.
AKMU is receiving favorable reviews for their matured and deepened musical world shown through their collaboration album, ‘NEXT EPISODE’. The title track ‘NAKKA’(with IU) is ranked at no. 1 on major music charts for 3 days, while other tracks from the album are also ‘lined up’ on the top ranks of major charts.
