[스포티비뉴스=장진리 기자] Group BLACKPINK became the first female artist in the world to surpass 60M subscribers on YouTube.

On April 13, YG Entertainment revealed that BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has surpassed 60M subscribers as of 6 AM. The record was set in 5 years since the group has made debut, and is the first·best record among all Korean YouTube channels.

BLACKPINK became the most subscribed female artist surpassing Pop star Ariana Grande last year on July. In 3 months after that, they’ve surpassed Eminem, Ed Sheeran, and DJ Marshmello, and is following Justin Bieber(6.2M).

The 9M gap they’ve had with Justin Bieber is now only 2M. Considering that Justin Bieber has made debut back in 2009 and has reached 60M in approximately 11 years, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has a dominant increasing uptrend. Since their growth is more than 2 times faster, it is likely that they will soon become the most subscribed artist in the world.

BLACKPINK is gathering millions of new YouTube subscribers, every time they release new songs. The total accumulated views of BLACKPINK’s YouTube contents add up to over 17B views. In addition to the MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which has surpassed 1.5B views, 27 videos haver reached over ‘100M views’.

YG Entertainment explained the meaning of YouTube records in the global music industry by stating, “The number of YouTube subscribers is an index which represents the loyal fans’ interest and anticipation rather than simple curiosities one-time views related to certain contents”.
