Psy’s Gentleman wins praises from all over the world, including CNN and Billboard
Psy is drawing attention not only in Korea but from all corners of the world, including giant media like CNN and Billboard. Psy’s new song ‘Gentleman’ went public at zero hour on April 12, in 119 countries at the same time. Foreign media including CNN, Reuter, Billboard, Metro and Official Charts are in a race to publish news on the global star.
An American news channel, CNN, announced the release of Psy’s new song on television, while Billboard wrote, “’Gentleman,’ the meticulously-planned follow-up single to PSY’s global smash ‘Gangnam Style,’ is finally here. Will its music video and brand new dance measure up? We’ll have to wait and see.”
A British media, Metro, wrote, “Psy’s new single Gentlemen blocked online within minutes of its debut.” It added, “with fans in New Zealand and Australia having already had a chance to hear the song due to time differences, it almost inevitably began appearing on YouTube. However anybody hoping for an early listen is likely to be out of luck – getting instead only a message from Psy’s record company Universal informing them the stream has been blocked” and that it has proven “[the] excitement at the arrival of Psy’s long-awaited follow-up to Gangnam Style.”
Another British media, Official Charts, wrote, “Psy will release Gentleman, the hotly anticipated follow-up to his international mega-hit Gangnam Style, for digital download at midnight tonight (Thursday, April 11). The rapper will be celebrating the release of the track with a concert in front of 50,000 people in Seoul, the capital city of his native South Korea, on Saturday (April 13). UK fans will be able to watch the show live on YouTube at 10.30am GMT.”
According to YG Entertainment, the agency to which Psy belongs, ‘Gentleman’ is even more fun when it is accompanied by the music video and that it is a ‘visual’ song that entertains the watchers, and there are a number of humorous scenes in the clip.
Psy’s concert, dubbed Happening, will be held on April 13 at 6:30p.m. He will be joined by 50,000 fans at Sangam World Cup Stadium.
