YG TREASURE Tops Japan’s Oricon Weekly Chart… “Moved By The Love of Fans’
[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE topped the Oricon Weekly Chart with their Japanese debut album.
According to YG Entertainment on April 6, TREASURE’s first Japanese full-length debut album ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’ has topped Oricon’s Weekly Albums Chart(3/29~4/4).
TREASURE has topped the Oricon Daily Albums Chart for 4 consecutive days after its release on March 31. The song was also ranked at no. 1 on the Albums Top 100 Chart of Line Music, Japan’s biggest music platform, for 7 consecutive days.
The songs are also performing well. Songs ‘Going Crazy’ and ‘I LOVE YOU’ have entered the top ranks of various major charts, continuing the group’s uptrend.
Despite being a rookie K-Pop group without active local promotion activities, their success proves the local fans’ explosive interest towards TREASURE.
TREASURE revealed their thoughts by commenting, “(After hearing that we were no. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Chart)The members were all surprised. Regardless of the chart results, we were moved by the fans’ love and support”.
They continued, “We wanted to encourage people with our album, with the theme of ‘hope and love’, and we feel overwhelmed since we’ve been able to pass on our sincerities”.
TREASURE also stated, “We’ve earned so much energy, thanks to the fans’ love. We’ll never forget this moment and work hard to show our better selves”.
After receiving attention as YG’s next-generation stars targeting the global market, TREASURE released their debut single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ last year on August, in Korea,
The group then released 4 albums of ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series for approximately 5 months under YG’s fast·concentrated strategy, and proved their next-generation super rookie-like aspects by reaching a total of 1M in album sales.
Since a considerable amount of the total sales of ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series were made in Japan, the group is expected to grow even further in local popularity in the future.
Meanwhile, TREASURE’s ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’ contains a total of 13 songs. The album includes 12 Japanese versions of songs that were locally popular despite the lyrics being Korean, in addition to the song ‘BEAUTIFUL’, which is a theme song from the animation ‘Black Clover’.
