Living as CHOI HYUN SUK and JUNKYU of YG TREASURE… Experiencing Opposite Lifestyles
[OSEN=김은애 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE strengthened their friendship by experiencing lifestyles of members CHOI HYUN SUK and JUNKYU, who have opposite daily patterns.
On February 5, YG Entertainment uploaded their self-produced reality content ‘TREASURE MAP Season 2’ episode 32, through their official blog.
TREASURE split into two teams and had time to live as CHOI HYUN SUK and JUNKYU. YOSHI, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN challenged on living the ‘CHOI HYUN SUK lifestyle’. PARK JIHOON, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, DOYOUNG, and HARUTO challenged on living the ‘JUNKYU lifestyle’.
They two teams were different from the start. The members challenging on the ‘JUNKYU lifestyle’ appeared wearing long puffer coats and hot pink-colored products, while members experiencing the ‘CHOI HYUN SUK lifestyle’ revealed hip vibes with their entire bodies. The members had to follow two rules at the TREASURE house. The rules required them to wear the signature looks of CHOI HYUN SUK and JUNKYU, as well as mimicking their actions, the way they speak, and their habits.
The ‘CHOI HYUN SUK lifestyle’ members mimicked his usual behavior at all times, making CHOI HYUN SUK burst into laughter. They enjoyed taking photos like CHOI HYUN SUK, making reactions full of swag, and playing ‘footket ball’. They then challenged the last mission of ‘self-styling with CHOI HYUN SUK’s clothes’, spending a fun and restless day.
Meanwhile, the ‘JUNKYU lifestyle’ members took a relaxed nap. They then performed the ‘JUNKYU style chicken gangjeong combo tasting’ and the ‘holding back laughter’ challenge. After lunch, the members took another map. After waking up, they performed random dances to EDM as JUNKYU’s ‘get out of bed routine’ and rank ssanghwatang, which energized the members. The final schedule was JUNKYU’s favorite, which was to watch a documentary.
After the experience, CHOI HYUN SUK shared his thoughts by stating, “I’m thankful that the members made it look fun. I was also touched since it made me think, ‘The members know me well’”. JUNKYU smiled while stating, “I felt ‘This is how I was’, and think it will be an opportunity for me to improve myself”. The two people then made the fans’ hearts flutter by adding, “Would you like to visit the TREASURE guesthouse?”.
Meanwhile, TREASURE proved their global popularity once again by being selected as ‘The fastest rising K-Pop artist of 2020’, according to Twitter’s 2020 K-Pop report. TREASURE was also ranked at no. 6 on the ‘TOP 10 most loved K-pop artists in the world’ list, which was the highest rank among all rookie artists.
In fact, TREASURE has achieved a milestone of surpassing over 1M in album sales with ‘THE FIRST STEP SERIES’. With their successful activities and the fans’ support, TREASURE received rookie awards at numerous major award ceremonies, and are currently scheduled to make official Japanese debut on March 31.
