From Bruno Mars to BLACKPINK… TREASURE’s Dance Challenge Cover
[이데일리 스타in=김가영 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE revealed the ‘2020 Dance Challenge Hits Compilation’ video. TREASURE chose 12 dance challenge songs that were popular during the year and covered the dance themselves.
The video revealed on the 26th showed TREASURE presenting cute and lively motions on ‘Treasure’ by Bruno Mars. SO JUNG HWAN then made a transition by making a gesture as if he’s cleaning the camera lens and danced to Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ with JUNKYU and HARUTO, making the video more interesting.
TREASURE’s unit combination which were presented for the first-time added freshness and specialness to the video. MASHIHO, BANG YE DAM, and DOYOUNG covered Justine Bieber’s ‘Yummy’, CHOI HYUN SUK and JIHOON covered Saweetie’s ‘Tap In’, YOSHI and ASAHI covered ZICO’s ‘Any Song’, YOON JAE HYUK and PARK JEONG WOO covered Benee’s ‘Supalonely’, JIHOON and HARUTO covered Jason Derulo and Josh 685’s ‘Savage Love’, PARK JEONG WOO and SO JUNG HWAN covered Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’, CHOI HYUN SUK and DOYOUNG covered Drake’s ‘Toosie Slide’, YOSHI·BANG YE DAM·MASHIHO danced to Rain’s ‘GANG’, while JUNKYU·YOON JAE HYUK·ASAHI presented their dance of Conkarah’s Banana.
The dance that decorated the finale of the video was BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’. After presenting their talents and musical capacities by going through genres from R&B Pop to Hip-hop based dance songs, all members of TREASURE reappeared together at the chorus part of ‘How You Like That’ and completed the moves with their sharp group dance. While leading an exciting mood with relaxed stage manners as it was a dance challenge, TREASURE’s charms stood out since they’ve covered ‘How You Like That’ with their own unique colors.
The viewers could not take their eyes off the video since TREASURE’s variety of charms were presented like a parade. TREASURE has showed off their musical capabilities through various dance cover videos, but it was the first time they’ve presented them in a compilation format. TREASURE’s skills that made them perfectly pull off any genre and the unique combination of members were like special gifts for the global music fans.
Meanwhile, TREASURE has won the Rookie of the Year Award at the ‘2020 Asia Artist Awards’ as well as winning the honor of receiving the Best New Male Artist Award and a Main Award at the ‘2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards’, in 4 months since making debut.
The 3 single albums TREASURE has released since August have reached a total of over 700 thousand album sales, while all 3 title songs from the albums have topped global charts including the Top 100 chart of Line Music, which is Japan’s biggest music platform, as well as Rakuten Music’s Real-time Comprehensive Rankings.
