[엑스포츠뉴스=김미지 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE presented a romantic and special performance of ‘I LOVE YOU’ using a school as a background, rather than a simple stage.

On October 3, YG Entertainment uploaded the special performance video of ‘I LOVE YOU’ through their official blog.

All 12 members of TREASURE took out their roses one by one and presented their dominant presence while crisscrossing through classrooms and the rooftop. The soft and dandy preppy look contrasting to the song’s fierce sounds emphasized the members’ fresh boyish charms even more.

TREASURE’s sharp group moves which looked free but were perfectly in sync with the music went well with the sophisticated visuals, reminding the viewers of a well-made musical.

Furthermore, their powerful gestures of knocking their chest, making hand hearts and nodding, and opening their chest as if they’re making a confession, all grabbed the viewers’ attention perfectly as point moves of the dance.

‘I LOVE YOU’ is a Dance Pop genre song with stronger sounds than that of ‘BOY’, the group’s debut single. The song states a boy’s emotions, as he purely rushes toward the girl he loves, while the phrase ‘I LOVE YOU’ repeats throughout the song to add catchiness.

The song was placed at no. 1 on the September Monthly chart of Rakuten Music, which is one of Japan’s major music platforms. The song achieved this result in less than 2 weeks since its release last month on the 18th and is TREASURE’s first no. 1 on a monthly chart in Japan.

Their success is receiving attention since they’ve not only surpassed Japanese artists, but also other popular top artists. As a group targeting the global market from the beginning, TREASURE is expanding their realm overseas even without special activities overseas.

The song ‘I LOVE YOU’ topped the iTunes Top song charts in 9 different countries including Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam on the date if its release. The song then dominated the Real-time Chart of Japan’s Line Music and was placed on the top ranks on the Weekly chart, proving their consistent popularity.
