BLACKPINK X Selena Gomez Reveal ‘Ice Cream’ MV Behind Film… Fresh+Sweet Charms Rather Than Girl Crush
[OSEN=심언경 기자] BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez revealed their variety of charms through the ‘Ice Cream’ MV making film.
On August 29, YG Entertainment revealed the ‘Ice Cream’ MV making film by BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez. The film grabbed the viewers’ attention by revealing BLACKPINK’s sweet and fresh charms, rather than their signature Hip-hop based charisma and girl crush.
The video began with ROSÉ’s cute aegyo as she stated, “Mom, I’ll be back after the MV shooting”. JENNIE introduced the MV by stating, “You will see the fresh, sweet, and girlish side of us”.
After beginning the MV shooting, BLACKPINK cheered while handling toy props with proficiency. When the pink balloons blew up, the members exchanged looks and burst into laughter, hinting on how exciting the MV shooting scene was.
Selena Gomez, who has made her first appearance on a K-Pop MV, put the viewers in awe with her compulsive stylings in variety and her veteran acting skills.
BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez were not able to share the same MV set but communicated with each other through video call. ROSÉ smiled as she stated, “We are filming the MV on our own spaces, but I’m happy and I look forward to it”.
LISA explained the point moves of ‘Ice Cream’ herself. She acted the moves as if she’s wiping her lips(with ice cream) with her thumb on the lyrics ‘Ice Cream’ and explained, “The dance has a very easy killing part”.
Meanwhile, ‘Ice Cream’ was released on August 28 at 12 AM US EST/1 PM KST and is receiving heated responses.
The song ‘Ice Cream’ entered the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart as no. 1 on the 28th, as soon as the song was released. The song topped iTunes Song Charts in 38 different countries, was placed on the high ranks on major Pop markets including the US(no. 2) and the UK(no. 3) and is accumulating more countries where it hit the no. 1 spot.
BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel is also racking up subscribers quickly and has surpassed over 45.8M subscribers. They’ve surpassed Pop star Ed Sheeran and has now become the 3rd most subscribed artist in the world.
The MV for ‘Ice Cream’ surpassed 70M views in 21 hours, making the people look forward to whether BLACKPINK will renew their own best record set through ‘How You Like That’ on the ‘number of views accumulated on YouTube in 24 hours’ and the time it took to reach 100M views.
