BLACKPINK’s 4-Year Debut Anniversary… Prepares Special Gift for the Fans
[매일경제 스타투데이=신영은 기자] BLACKPINK prepared a special gift for their fans on their 4-year debut anniversary, spending meaningful time together.
On August 8 at 9 AM, YG Entertainment uploaded episode 6 of ‘24/365 with BLACKPINK’, BLACKPINK’s exclusive reality show, through their official blog and BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel.
After gathering at the dance practice room, BLACKPINK stated, “It’s already our (debut) 4-year anniversary”. The members thought and discussed how they can celebrate this and decided to shoot a ‘cosplay dance video’. JISOO explained, “We’ve always made dance practice videos in regular format, so we thought BLINK(fandom) may enjoy watching us dance while wearing cute outfits”.
They prepared the concept of the movie ‘Frozen’. Through a draw, JISOO got the role of Elsa, JENNIE received the role of Christoph, ROSÉ got Anna, while LISA received the Olaf role. After exchanging feelings of joy and sorrow due to the characters they took, the members began a theatre of situations right after they began their makeup, making the viewers burst into laughter.
After getting their costumes on, the began shooting the Frozen version dance practice video of ‘How You Like That’. Rather than dancing with charisma, they presented bright energy by expressing their joy and character.
The second content they prepared was an interview. On the question asking how she felt, LISA answered, “I’m happy”, ROSÉ replied, “I’ve made many memories with BLINK”, JISOO stated, “I was always reassured, thanks to BLINK”, while JENNIE answered, “Let’s stay together for a long long time”, expressing their affections toward their fans. BLACKPINK’s 4-year debut anniversary contents including the choreography video and interview can be viewed through BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel today(8th) at 8 PM.
They also had time to celebrate with a surprise guest. Magician Choi Hyunwoo visited BLACKPINK. When he performed a magic of predicting the numbers thought by the members in their heads, BLACKPINK began concentrating and exploded in tension, which surprised him due to their endless reactions.
On the card tricks which continued afterwards, numbers related to BLACKPINK were revealed every time he flipped the cards. From the members’ birth year, Jun 29th of 2016 which was the date BLACKPINK’s group name was revealed, to August 8th, which was their date of debut, the members could not take their eyes off the cards. Lastly, when Choi Hyunwoo flipped all cards after saying, “So who are we?”, the word ‘BLACKPINK’ appeared, surprising the members and making them cheer.
After debuting on August 8, 2016, BLACKPINK received many attentions based on their charming visuals and talented skills. They became popular in and out of Korea through numerous hits including ‘WHISTLE’, ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, and ‘Kill This Love’.
They began emitting their presence overseas and finally became the representative girl group of K-Pop. The song ‘How You Like That’ released back in June not only dominated Korean charts but also was ranked at no. 20 on UK’s Official Singles Chart Top 100 and at no. 33 on the US Billboard Hot 100, setting the best record in K-Pop girl group history.
The MV for the song was listed on 5 categories of the Guinness World Records including the ‘Most Watched YouTube Video in 24 Hours’ category by reaching 86.3M views on the date of its release, as well as becoming the fastest MV to surpass 100M, 200M, and 300M views.
On the 28th BLACKPINK will release a song collaborated with a special artist and will release their debut album on October 2, in 4 years since the made debut. YG made the people look forward to BLACKPINK’s upcoming activities by revealing, “BLACKPINK will target the global market with systematic and thorough planning and the execution of those plains in 2020”.
