TREASURE, What Differentiates Them From Existing YG Artists #GROUPMOVES #PERFORMANCE #SOUND
[iMBC=김미정 기자] The partial instrumental of YG’s TREASURE have been revealed, gathering the attention of global music fans.
On August 3 at 12 PM, YG Entertainment uploaded the MOTION TEASER clip of TREASURE’s first single album title song, ‘BOY’, through their official blog.
The short 23-second clip included the highlights of their upcoming title song, ‘BOY’. Furthermore, the clip showed the MV shooting set, prop photos, and the energetic motion effects with sophistication, which raised curiosities on the full song.
The instrumental from the motion teaser of ‘BOY’ showed that it’s differentiated from debut tracks by existing boy groups of YG. BIGBANG’s ‘La La La’, WINNER’s ‘EMPTY’, and iKON’s ‘MY TYPE’ were lyrical Hip-hop tracks in medium tempo. However, TREASURE’s debut song made the people expect dynamic sounds and group dance moves, which YG is challenging for the first time.
A related official from YG explained, “TREASURE is making debut with the hardest sound in the agency’s debut history”. He also added, “They will present group moves and strong performances of 12 members, which YG, the Hip-hop based agency, has never presented before”.
TREASURE is YG’s major rookie group being presented by YG in 4 years since BLACKPINK. The group is composed of 12 members including CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN, and are regarded as the biggest rookies of K-Pop in 2020 since they target the global market.
Their title song ‘BOY’ was produced by R.Tee, Se.A, CHOICE37, and HAE of YG’s The Black Label, while CHOI HYUN SUK and HARUTO participated in the rap making to add more meaning.
Their album is titiled ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’. It is a direct title which signifies TREASURE’s ‘first step’ as well as making the people realize that it will be the beginning of TREASURE’s upcoming journey.
TREASURE will release their debut single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ and the MV for ‘BOY’ on August 7 at 6 PM and begin their full-scale activities.
Physical copies of the album are available for pre-order through YG SELECT and major distribution channels starting last month on the 29th and will be available through nationwide retailers starting from August 13th.
