Grand Prize Winner of BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ Dance Cover Contest=Korean Child, High Competition Rate

[뉴스엔=박수인 기자] BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ dance cover contest marked a competition rate of 740:1.

YG Entertainment held the ‘How You Like That’ Dance Cover Contest from July 6 until the 20th, for a total of 15 days.

As a result, approximately 2,200 teams from over 100 countries including Korea and the US in addition to Canada·Brazil·India·Philippines·Thailand participated. The number of related contents uploaded on YouTube add up to approximately 97,000. The countries with the biggest number of participating teams were the Philippines (270 teams) and the US (240 teams).

YG explained, “It is the biggest number of participants among all dance cover contests held by artists of our agency”. They added, “Most participants wore hanbok to add more meaning and the number of participants from the US increased significantly”.

In fact, BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ dance cover contest gathered approximately 800 teams. When compared, the ‘How You Like That’ dance cover contest participants increased by approximately 3 times more.

Since the competition was fierce, YG announced the 3 winning teams of the ‘How You Like That’ dance cover contest through just and detailed evaluation and announced them through BLACKPINK’s official social media account on the 28th.

The grand prize winner was a team from Korea, ‘PREMIUM DANCE STUDIO – YEMIN BOSS’, composed of two children who were 9 and 10 years old. They presented amazing dance skills in an old palace while wearing hanbok and were praised for their powerful performance despite their young ages, in addition to their delicate moves and facial expressions.

The second prize winner was ‘Andree Bonifacio’ from the Philippines. She not only perfectly re-enacted BLACKPINK’s performance, but also acted as 4 members by herself, expressing BLACKPINK’s individual charms, stylings, and their dance set.

The third prize winner was ‘B-Wild OFFICIAL’ from Vietnam. The team recreated a set similar to that of BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ MV and produced a wonderful dance cover video, which grabbed the people’s attention.

Since there were many participants besides the 3 winning teams who showed extraordinary skills, YG announced 2 more special award winners. T.B. Unicorns from Ukraine who presented a glamorous performance on the streets won the honor in addition to Mikayla Channel from Indonesia, a team composed of 4 children.
