[더팩트=정병근 기자] BLACKPINK surpassed 10 billion accumulated views on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment on July 9, BLACKPINK’s official channel on YouTube has surpassed a total of 10 billion accumulated views. It is the highest view count among all channels by Korean artists. The record was achieved in 4 years since BLACKPINK opened their channel back in June 28, 2016.

BLACKPINK is also gaining YouTube channel subscribers at a fast pace. They have surpassed 40 million subscribers only a week ago and has surpassed 41 million today.

Regarding the matter, US Billboard spotlighted the group by writing, “It is the 6th biggest channel following Justin Bieber, Marshmello, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, and Ariana Grande”. They added, “BLACKPINK is the first artist to surpass 40 million subscribers who are from a non-English speaking country and the second female artists”.

YouTube channel views and subscribers are indexes that can help one determine the artist’s global popularity and recognition. Considering that subscription is a barometer to measure the anticipation on upcoming contents and steady interest by loyal fandom, BLACKPINK’s records are worthy of attention.

BLACKPINK’s record march on YouTube is unrivaled. The ‘How You Like That’ MV set a world record with 86.3 million views collected on the date of release and became the ‘Most Watched Video on YouTube in 24 Hours’. The video was also listed for 5 Guinness World Records including the previously mentioned category.

Furthermore, the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from their first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’, announced back in 2018, surpassed 1.2 billion views on YouTube for the first time as a K-Pop group MV.

In addition, the group holds 6 MVs with over 500M views including ‘Kill This Love’(900M), ‘BOOMBAYAH’(800M), ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’(800M), ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’(500M), and ‘WHISTLE’(500M). Including MVs and dance practice videos, they have over 19 videos with over 100M views.

Following the release of ‘How You Like That’, they will release their second new song in special format between July~August and will release their first official album in September.
