BLACKPINK Ranked at No. 20 on UK’s Official Singles Chart.. Best Record in K-Pop Girl Group History Excluding Collaborations
[MBN스타=안하나 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ entered UK’s Official Singles Chart as no. 20.
It is the highest record by a K-Pop girl group excluding collaborations, which renews the group’s own record set by ‘Kill This Love’.
According to UK’s Official Charts on the 3rd(local time), the pre-release title song ‘How You Like That’ from BLACKPINK’s upcoming first album has been placed at no. 20 on the Official Singles Chart Top 40.
Official Chart explained, “It is the highest rank among all new songs that entered the chart this week” through their official Twitter account. They also added, “BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop group to have over 2 songs enter UK’s Official Singles Chart within the top 20”.
BLACKPINK has previously reached no. 17 on UK’s Official Singles Chart with ‘Sour Candy’, a song released with Lady Gaga. They have been listed on the Top 40 for 2 consecutive weeks, raising the anticipation of global music fans. In approximately a month later, they re-entered the Top 20 with ‘How You Like That’, proving their presence and influence as a ‘world-class group’.
UK’s Official Chart is known as 2 of the biggest music charts in the world, along with US Billboard. BLACKPINK has been ranked at no. 33 on the chart with ‘Kill This Love’, no. 36 with ‘Kiss and Make Up’ with Dua Lipa, and at no. 78 with ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.
BLACKPINK has released ‘How You Like That’ last month on the 26th. The song topped not only music charts in and out of Korea but is also setting new records on YouTube day by day. The song topped iTunes Song charts in 64 different countries including the US, as well as being ranked at no. 2 on the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform.
Furthermore, the MV reached 86.3 million views on the first day of its release, allowing them to be listed on 5 different categories of the Guinness World Records as ‘The Most Watched Video on YouTube in 24 Hours’. The video then reached 100M views in approximately 32 hours and 200M views in 7 days, setting the fastest records in YouTube MV history.
